Sayulita Canopy Tour

On Friday February 10th, we organized a group of 13 people to go zip lining near Sayulita, a town south of Lo de Marcos.  What a fun day!

There were 13 zip lines plus 3 swing bridges.  We hiked 500 metres up a hill to do 2 practice zip lines.  Then we took a truck to the top of the hill to start zip lining down.  There were opportunities to zip line backwards and upside down.

For Vic and Bev, it was one more item on our bucket list!

Amigos Charity Events

We participated in several charity events run by the Amigos de Lo de Marcos in late January and early February.  The organization raises money to support local projects.

There was a book sale, in which we donated 3 shelves of paperbacks from our library here at Savage RV Park.  Attendees could purchase a shopping bag full of used paperbacks for 50 pesos.

We had a "Beach Bum" event with 8 activities such as racing with a golf ball on a spoon, bust the water balloon,  plus a boogie board competition. The cost was 50 pesos per person to participate.  This event was raising money to provide swimming lessons for the local children. The boogie board event was a competition to see who could do the most long runs into shore within 20 minutes.  Unfortunately Vic didn't win the competition.  The prize was a jicama for each of the winners of the male and female category!  Each time a participant completed an event, their name was entered into the draw.  There were many nice draw prizes!

February 3rd there was a walk about town visiting organizations supported by the Amigos group.  The  walk was followed by a Burritos Breakfast for 30 pesos.
February 4th was a busy day from 4 pm to 10 pm with a rummage sale, a silent auction, taco night, and music.

All were fun events for a wonderful cause.

Whale Watching Tour

Close encounter with humpback whales

We took a whale watching tour one day out of Lo de Marcos.  The cost was 200 pesos  ($15 CAD) per person for the 2 hour tour.  We went almost 10 miles off the coast before spotting the first pod of whales.  In all, we saw 3 pods, the last one consisted of 10 whales. It was hard to take photos with waves bouncing the boat but what a great day!

Our family together

We were lucky to have both our children and their families visit us in January.  It was a wonderful time for all of us and a special gift for Vic's birthday.

We spent a day together at the condo in Puerto Vallarta before Laura, Bill and Addison flew home.

Maxine's 2nd birthday

Our granddaughter Maxine is 2 yrs old today  (Feb 1st).  We had an early birthday celebration on January 16th while Maxine was visiting with us.

Birthday celebrations in P.V.

While our daughter and her family were on vacation here, we had the first celebration of Vic's birthday at Victor's Place in Marina Vallarta.  The food and service there is great with a personal visit by the owner to each table, with a shot of "Mexican water", aka watered down to-kill-ya.

The second celebration occurred January 10th after our son and his family had flown in to join us.  This time we celebrated at Tequila y Guacamole in Marina Vallarta. Our daughter and her family were still in PV so it was great to have a celebration with the entire family.
