LdM to Mission TX

We left Lo de Marcos on Saturday March 16th.  Our first stop was Magdalena where we unhooked the tow car to do some shopping in Amatitan.  We continued on our journey to Aguacalientes where we stopped for the night at PEMEX 4591 (on the lateral to the Nissan plant not far from the start of the truck route to bypass Aguacalientes).  It is a quiet place to stay.

The following day we traveled past Zacatecas, Saltillo and Monterrey to stop for the night at PEMEX 8054 (at the 98 km marker on Hwy 40D).

Photos below show scenery as we drove the bypass to the north of Monterrey:

Monday morning we crossed the border at the Anzalduas International Bridge and headed to Lemon Tree RV Inn at Mission TX.  Wait time was over 2 hours to get to the customs booth.  Maybe we should try the Pharr International Bridge next time.

In total we traveled 859 miles from Lo de Marcos to Mission TX.

We spent 7950 pesos on fuel and 4849 pesos on tolls for the trip. Total 12,799 pesos (about $884.93 CAD).

The price of gas in Mexico this season was more expensive than in Canada.  When we bought gas for the motorhome on March 16th in Magdalena the prices was 21.6 pesos/litre which is about $1.52 CAD/litre!   When we checked the price of gas at home it was $1.20/litre. Of course gas was much cheaper in Mission at $2.19/gallon at the local Valero.

While in Mission we get our annual lube and oil change job done on the motorhome at Lube Master on Business 83 in Alamo.  They have a bay dedicated to RVs.  Total cost $95.96 including extra quart of Royal Purple.

P.S. Everyone is posting that the wait times at the border are a minimum of two hours, and often three hours. Suck it up Buttercup, and cross where it is convenient to you.
