Arrived Home on Apr 16th

This last blog will be short summary of our final days on the road.

April 10th we left Fort Worth.  We stopped at the Blue Bill Point Corps Park at Wagoner, Oklahoma (Southeast of Tulsa) for the night. The drive through Oklahoma had been nice -- the trees were all in leaf, lots of spring flowers. Blue Bill Point was a truly beautiful campground with a view of the lake, included water & electrical connection with a dump facility.  Very few people were there at this time of year.  We experienced the first rain since November!! ($18/night or $9/night with US Seniors Pass)  Temperature that day was 28.5C (mid 80sF).  Price of  gas was $3.639/gallon

April 11th.  Using our Passport America membership, we stopped at Candy Cane RV Park at Steeleville, Missouri.  Lovely drive off the highway through the countryside. Great place to stop for the night. All the services available. Free internet. Friendly owner.  ($12/night with PA)  Temp down to 8C at night so we ran our electric heater.  Price of gas that day was $3.59/gallon

April 12th.  Problems first with the alternator -- fan shorted a fuse -- same fuse controls the alternator output.  Then transmission problems.  37 miles from our destination in La Porte, IN the transmission wouldn't go into 3rd or 4th gear so Vic drove the last 37 miles in 2nd gear.  Luckily we had a place to stay with Vic's brother for the 3 days the RV was away at National Transmission. Price of gas at that time was $3.87/gal

April 16th - When we left La Porte we passed a gas station listing unleaded as $4.15.  We topped up the gas in RV before we crossed the border at $3.99/gal.  We drove 8 1/2 hours home, arriving about 6:30 pm.  Temperature was about 4.8C....brrrrr....  We had travelled about 7,200 miles since we left October 31st.

Unfortunately, Bev's Mom passed away on April 21st.
